Physical Description: Keane's never really been the type of guy to stand out in a crowd. He comes in at an unimpressive 5'8", is blonde and blue-eyed, and is mainly a t-shirt and jeans type of guy. He has a few small tattoos, mostly lyrical and not always visible.
Personality: Really, Keane's a good guy. Nice, laid-back, never got into any big trouble other than teenage boys goofing off and getting in trouble at school. He has a good sense of humor, is charismatic, and people usually tend to like him. The fact that he's just a teensy bit obsessed with his best friend only gets in the way half of the time. Seventy-five percent tops.
Where Res is involved, Keane can sometimes be a moody and rather irrational bastard. He is more than happy to stand behind her and pick up the pieces of her messes, and fight anyone who so much as looks at her wrong. After she's already beaten the hell out of them anyway. Keane has her back -- end of story. If she gets them in trouble, he'll do anything he can to get her out of it. If she hooks up with a guy on vacation, he'll grouch and mope in private and support her in public. It may not be healthy, but it's what works for him.
Sexuality: Straight
History: Keane had a nice and healthy childhood with his parents and brothers, and was your typical boy growing up and in high school. Due to his personality he always had a lot of friends, and while he and his friends were a rather mishcievous lot, he never got in any serious trouble. He aspired to do many things, and had a lot of interests, but lacked in actual ambition. He had a true love for music, but didn't have enough faith in himself to try and make anything involved with that his career. He went to university in London to study literature, which is family considered mostly useless since he didn't want to be a writer or a teacher. In the end, he took a management job at his uncle's record shop -- which he mostly enjoys.
The important thing -- at least by his standards -- is that he met Res in uni. Keane was a friendly guy and made friends easily, and spotting her as a clear outside, sought to make friends with her immediately. This worked surprisingly easily (making friends with Res, that is) though she always seemed surprised by him in the beginning. The more he got to know her, the more he was drawn to her, and his feelings became more than just friendly towards the girl. Just when he was working up the guts to make a move on the girl, she filled him in on her sad and rather horrifying history. That beyond kicked Keane's protective instincts into gear, and also made him feel like he could never ever act on his feelings for her.
He didn't know that they were really both just a pair of idiots.
So Keane kept his feelings to himself, and was generally happy staying friends with her and doing what he could to take care of her (but please don't let her hear him say that way). Whether or not he's hopelessly and head over heels for the girl, she became his best friend, and the two did just about everything together. He's hardly gone a day without speaking to her since he met her, and it's not a surprise to anyone he knows that the pair joined the experiment together.
Special Skills/Abilities: Keane plays guitar, bass, and piano.
Personal Weaknesses: Res. Look up hopeless in the dictionary, you'll find Keane's picture (and Res under oblivious). In her defense, he's just as oblivious to her feelings as she is to hers. Either way, he loves the girl, and is a willing accomplice to all the shit she starts - which has gotten his ass handed to him no few times. He's a decent fighter, but Res has a really big mouth. He can't even stand to see men flirt with the girl - which leads to being a miserable bastard a lot of the time.
Keane has a distinct lack of ambition. Had he any, he would have gone into music -- but before Res came along, he really didn't believe he was good enough at it. Now he works at a record shop, and despite his friend's attempts to make him apply himself, he'd never really do much else but play at open mic nights without her pushing.
Finally, and perhaps worst of all when you have a friend like Res, Keane has a lot of drug allergies. Not only sulfa and penicillin, he's found that he's allergic to a lot of pain-killers. Over-the-counter shit he can handle, though it tears his stomach up a little.
Personal Strengths: Despite all the shit he goes through, he actually considers it worth it. Consider it a strength or a weakness -- he considers it a good thing.
Family: Keane gets on well with his family, including his parents, three brothers, and extended family.
